A Guernseyman Goes to War By Liz Walton

Seller's Description

Private Latimer Le Poidevin's Notebook, 1917 – 1919. This 133 page book is based on his notes whilst serving with the Royal Guernsey Light Infantry (RGLI) between January 1917 and June 1919.

It details his experiences including Ypres, Cambrai, Passchendaele and Masnieres.

"About 2 o'clock in the morning of the 2nd Dec 1917, our Officer came back and ordered us to pack up ... My word we walked with a light foot, although not having had any food for two days and close on two weeks that we hadn't shaved or had a good wash .... remember passing Marcoing village and we stayed in a trench just outside, a trench the Germans occupied before the battle..."

Fully illustrated throughout with archive photographs, detailed maps and drawings it documents one man's experience of the First World War.
